Mid-year reflection: slow but steady
1 min read
Six months have passed and, honestly, I don't have a single big achievement to show for it. No career leap, no viral project. But strangely, this feels like the most productive year yet.
Maybe because the productivity I used to mean was the wrong thing.
What changed
I used to measure progress by things other people could see: numbers, titles, recognition. Now I measure it more often by the things that are invisible:
- Sleeping more regularly.
- Being able to say no without feeling guilty.
- Writing even when no one is reading.
None of these show up in a social media feed. But all of them feel real.
What I want to carry into the second half
Slow but steady — that's the theme. A few things I want to keep:
- Keep writing, even if it's just for myself.
- Read deeper, not more.
- Make room for the boring but important things.
Closing
Reflections like this can easily turn into a list of overambitious resolutions. So let me close simply: in the second half of this year, I just want to be present. In my work, with the people around me, and in the small moments I used to miss while chasing something else.
